Courtesy Visit Reinforces Strategic Media–Police Collaboration as ACP Idris Bunu Commends BTV’s Commitment to Ethical Journalism and Peacebuilding

BTvNEWS: In a significant step towards strengthening collaboration between the media and security institutions in the promotion of peace, public trust and community safety, the Chief Executive Director and Head of Communication, Research and Strategies of BTV Online TV, Radio and Publication: Climate and Peacebuilding Reporters (BTV-CPR), paid a courtesy visit to the Kaduna Metro Area Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP Idris Bunu, at the Metro Area Command Headquarters in Kaduna on Monday, July 6, 2026.

The high-level engagement underscored the growing importance of strategic partnerships between responsible media organisations and law enforcement agencies in fostering peaceful coexistence, promoting accountability, enhancing public confidence, and supporting intelligence-driven community policing.

The visit also provided a platform for meaningful dialogue on the indispensable role of credible journalism in advancing security, conflict prevention and sustainable peace.

Speaking during the visit, the BTV Chief Executive stated:

“BTV’s courtesy visit to you is in recognition of your extensive community engagement with traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, women leaders, civil society organizations, human rights advocates, and other critical stakeholders to promote peaceful coexistence.”

“You are an embodiment of sociability, credibility, and indefatigability with listening ears to the people,” the BTV Chief added.

Responding, ACP Idris Bunu expressed profound appreciation to BTV Online TV, Radio and Publication: Climate and Peacebuilding Reporters (BTV-CPR) for what he described as a thoughtful demonstration of confidence, partnership and goodwill towards the Nigeria Police Force.

ACP Bunu said: “I express my unreserved gratitude to the BTV Online TV, Radio and Publication: Climate and Peacebuilding Reporters (BTV-CPR) for the august visit, sincere partnership, and the show of love to the Nigeria Police Force to promote peaceful coexistence.”

“It indeed is exemplary of BTV as a media organization for timely and accurate reportage and playing the media role of the Fourth Estate at all times,” the Police Chief added.

The visit concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation through continuous engagement, ethical journalism, effective public communication and community-centred policing.

They expressed confidence that a sustained media–police partnership would further promote peacebuilding, reinforce public trust, improve information sharing and contribute meaningfully to the security and socio-economic development of Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole.
