Presents IGP’s Six Strategic Policing Pillars to Deepen Intelligence-Led Operations, Strengthen Public Trust, Enhance Human Rights Compliance and Reinforce Security Across Kaduna State

BTvNEWS: The Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) in charge of the Department of Finance and Administration and Supervising DIG for the North-West Geo-Political Zone, Sulaiman Muhammad Abdul, PhD, NNI, has charged officers and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force in Kaduna State to sustain the ongoing offensive against banditry, terrorism, kidnapping and other violent crimes.

The charge was delivered during his operational visit to the Nigeria Police Headquarters, Kaduna State Command, on 30 June 2026, where he also presented the Inspector-General of Police’s six strategic policing pillars aimed at enhancing intelligence-led policing, operational effectiveness and public confidence.

Welcoming the DIG on behalf of the Command, the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, Muhammad Rabiu, psc, warmly and heartily received the visiting police chief and described the operational tour as timely and strategic.

He enjoined officers and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force to work collectively towards making the DIG’s operational visit a huge success in all ramifications, stressing that commitment, discipline, teamwork and professionalism remain indispensable to effective policing and improved security service delivery across Kaduna State.

Delivering the Inspector-General of Police’s address, the DIG said, “It is with a profound sense of institutional duty that I address you today on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police. I have arrived in Kaduna State at a critical period in our nation’s internal security management. Kaduna State remains the administrative and historical heart of Northern Nigeria, making it a strategic target for sophisticated criminal networks seeking to inflict high-impact destruction.”

He noted that the operational visit was designed to reinforce ongoing security efforts and further strengthen policing strategies across the North-West region.

Conveying the goodwill message of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc, daga, mpn, the DIG commended the courage and resilience of officers serving in Kaduna State, saying:

“Good afternoon, Officers. I am proud of your outstanding performance. In recent times, you have taken the battle to criminals with courage and determination, recording remarkable successes through the arrest and neutralisation of bandits and their kingpins.”

“The people are noticing your bravery and professionalism. Well done! It is far better to take the fight to the criminals than to remain on the defensive. We must remain offensive. When bandits and other criminal elements recognise our operational strength and firepower, they will think twice before launching attacks,” he added.

“Keep pushing forward, stay vigilant and sustain the momentum. You are the pride of the Nigeria Police Force. Thank you for your dedication, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to duty,” he further stressed.

“Sustained offensive operations, intelligence gathering, community support and professionalism remain essential to defeating criminal elements and ensuring lasting peace and security,” he highlighted.

To institutionalise the gains recorded in the fight against crime, the Inspector-General of Police unveiled six strategic administrative pillars to guide command decisions and operational activities.

The pillars include Intelligence-Led and Technology-Driven Policing; Strict Accountability and Human Rights Compliance; Community Policing and Public Trust; Inter-Agency Collaboration and Regional Synergy; Operational Standardisation and Capacity Development; and Personnel Welfare and Continuous Capacity Building.

According to the police leadership, the framework is expected to deepen intelligence-led policing, improve operational efficiency, strengthen public confidence and sustain the fight against insecurity across Kaduna State and the North-West geopolitical zone.

Also speaking, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Zone 14 Headquarters, Katsina, Bello Shehu, psc, FDC, MNIM, warmly welcomed the DIG and reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to professionalism, discipline, respect for human rights and the effective implementation of the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police.

He expressed confidence that the IGP’s guidance and directives during the operational tour would further enhance the operational effectiveness, efficiency and service delivery of the Nigeria Police Force, while inspiring officers and personnel to discharge their constitutional responsibilities with greater dedication and integrity.

The operational visit, which was professionally anchored by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mansur Hassan, ensured the smooth coordination of proceedings and effective communication throughout the engagement.

The event underscored the determination of the Nigeria Police Force to consolidate ongoing security successes through proactive policing, intelligence-driven operations, strategic partnerships and community engagement.

It also reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to protecting lives and property, strengthening public trust, and sustaining decisive action against banditry, terrorism, kidnapping and other forms of criminality in Kaduna State and across the North-West region.
