BTvNEWS: The Unified Nigerian Youth Forum (UNYF) held its National Engagement Convention at the historic Arewa House in Kaduna North on Saturday. Comrade AbdulHakeem Mutiu Adejumo-Ajeseku represented his principal, Distinguished Ambassador Yerima Usman Shettima, and delivered a goodwill message.

During his presentation, Comrade Adejumo-Ajeseku, stated: “This gathering is a testament to the power of youth-led initiatives and a demonstration of the commitment to building a better Nigeria.”

“We must harness our diversity as a strength, rather than a weakness, and ensure that our policies and programs benefit all Nigerians, regardless of their background,” he stated.

“I commend Comrade Toriah Olajide and the entire UNYF leadership for organizing this convention. I have no doubt that the resolutions and recommendations from this gathering will contribute significantly to our nation’s progress,” he added.

“Let us work together to build a united, prosperous, and peaceful Nigeria. May God bless our endeavors, and may our collective efforts yield dividends of peace, progress, and prosperity for our beloved nation,” he further stressed.

“On behalf of my principal, I wish to donate the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira to support the noble efforts of UNYF,” he said.

Comrade Adejumo-Ajeseku drew inspiration from great statesmen like Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, and Chief Obafemi Awolowo. “A people without knowledge of their past history, origin, and culture are like a tree without roots,” he quoted Awolowo as saying.

At the same event, the Convener of UNYF, Comrade Toriah Olajide Filani, in his remarks, emphasized the need for Nigerian youths to intensify efforts to eradicate poverty and be more self-reliant to strengthen the economy.

“We must do more to address poverty and economic challenges facing our nation. As youths, we must be more proactive and self-reliant, leveraging our skills and potentials to build a stronger economy,” he said.

In the same vein, the Guest Speaker, Professor Solomon Titus Gushibet, urged Nigerian youths to change their mentality of being leaders of tomorrow, stressing that they are the leaders of today.

“The narrative that youths are the leaders of tomorrow must change. You are the leaders of today, and you must take charge by being proactive, resourceful, and prospective. The future of Nigeria is in your hands, and it’s time to take ownership,” he said.
