ADC Described as “Dead on Arrival”

BTvNEWS: The Presidency has broken its silence on the newly formed African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, describing it as a “conclave of internally displaced politicians.”
In a scathing remark, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, likened the opposition coalition to a “dead on arrival party.”
Reacting to the unveiling of the ADC’s new leadership in Abuja, Bwala took to his X handle, @BwalaDaniel, to express his disdain for the coalition.
“Association of wild goose chasers, consisting of internally displaced politicians forming a dead on arrival party; better described in the words of @PeterObi as ‘structure of criminality,” he wrote.
While Bwala did not name specific individuals, his comments appeared to target the architects and promoters of the ADC, a platform touted as a broad coalition of opposition politicians aiming to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
The ADC boasts an impressive lineup of members, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President David Mark, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Interestingly, Bwala, a former PDP chieftain who defected to the APC in 2023, was once a critic of President Tinubu before his appointment as Special Adviser in 2024.
In a similar vein, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, reacted to the coalition, stating that it would only strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Keyamo tagged the defection to ADC as “a win for APC.” In a post shared via his X handle, he wrote, “What happened earlier today with the movement of the so-called ‘coalition’ into the ADC is the greatest factor that has strengthened the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.”
According to Keyamo, the movement has effectively weakened the opposition, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party.
The reactions from the Presidency and APC chieftains have set the tone for a heated political battle ahead of the 2027 general elections.
