BTvNEWS: Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court has confirmed the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon, marking the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal.
Consequently, authorities have declared Sunday, March 30, as Eid -al-Fitr day in Saudi Arabia.
The announcement was made after the Supreme Court called on Muslims throughout the kingdom to sight the crescent moon on Saturday evening, Ramadan 29, 1446 AH, corresponding to March 29, 2025.
In Nigeria, the Muslim community awaits the announcement of the Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, to confirm the Eid -al-Fitr date.
The sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon is a significant event in the Islamic calendar, marking the end of the month-long fasting period of Ramadan and the beginning of the month of Shawwal.
