
Unity and Empowerment: The Hallmark of Yoruba Community’s Annual Gathering…

BosenloTvNEWS: The Yoruba Community of Gonin-Gora, Kaduna, comprising of various units including Before Rail, After Rail, Ungwan Bije, Buhaya, Karatudu, Ungwan Tanko, and Women’s Wings, gathered on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Gonin-gora Event Center, Kaduna, for their Annual General Meeting and Yoruba Quiz Competition (Idije). The event kicked off with an opening prayer by Pastor Samuel Ajaja, who prayed for unity, peace, and prosperity among the community members.
In his welcome address, the Palace Chairman, Mr. Paul Adenuga, warmly and happily welcomed all the branches of Yoruba communities and everyone in attendance, thanking them for coming en masse to grace the occasion. He expressed his gratitude to the attendees for their support and encouraged them to participate fully in the event. The Chairmen of the various units of the community presented updates on their activities throughout the year, which were unanimously adopted by the general house.
The updates highlighted the achievements and challenges faced by each unit, and the plans they have for the upcoming year.

The Yoruba Quiz Competition (Idije) was conducted by Comrade AbdulHakeem Mutiu Adejumo-Ajeseku, a renowned Nigerian journalist and CEO of Bosenlo TV (BTV), who also served as the Master of Ceremony (MC). Two participants from each of the three units of the Yoruba Community, namely Before Rail, Karatudu, and After Rail, participated in the quiz.

Before Rail emerged as the winner of the quiz, with Karatudu coming second and After Rail third. The winners were gifted accordingly, and the two participants representing Before Rail were also awarded a one-year scholarship for their outstanding performance.
In his remarks, Comrade AbdulHakeem Mutiu Adejumo-Ajeseku commended the participants for their excellent performance and encouraged them to continue to promote the Yoruba culture and language.

His Highness Oba Engr. Oluwafemi Abayomi Soetan, in his royal remarks, enjoined every unit of the Yoruba Community to coexist with love, happiness, and be their brothers’ keepers. He expressed his unreserved gratitude to his subjects and all those who had supported him throughout the year. The Oba also unveiled his achievements over the years, stemming from empowering his community members, securing lawyers to defend them when they are confronted with litigations, or to exercise their fundamental human rights against bad elements in their various units, and creating empowerment programs to liberate them from poverty.

The Oba added that he has established FAS ECO Hair Braids company, where purely organic hair braids are made with banana peels, as well as body cream, at Barnawa, Kaduna, to empower the female youths to be self-employed after the training. He further emphasized that a lot of empowerment programs of shoe making factories and others would be put in place to promote the welfare of his community male members, particularly male graduates and unlettered youths, to make them self-reliant, and also to create employment.
The attendees were impressed by the Oba’s commitment to the welfare of his people and his efforts to promote the Yoruba culture and language.
An award was presented to His Highness Oba Engr. Oluwafemi Abayomi Soetan during the event by the Yoruba National Youths Association, enjoining him to do more, as they are proud of him. The award was a testament to the Oba’s hard work and dedication to the welfare of his community. The Yoruba National Youths Association encouraged the Oba to continue his good work, saying they were proud of him.

The event came to a close with a closing prayer by Imam Muhammad Al-Qaseem Ibrahim, who prayed for peace, unity, and prosperity among the community members. The attendees were satisfied with the outcome of the event and looked forward to the next year’s gathering. The Annual General Meeting and Yoruba Quiz Competition of the Yoruba Community of Gonin-Gora, Kaduna, was a huge success, and it marked an important milestone in the community’s calendar.
