Renowned Islamic Scholar Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello Dies At 84

BosenloTvNEWS: Sheikh Muhydeen Ajani Bello, a prominent Islamic scholar and preacher, has passed away at the age of 84. His death was confirmed by Agidigbo FM, a popular radio station in Ibadan, and Sheikh Akewugbagold Taofeek, an Ibadan-based cleric, in an emotional Facebook post.

Born in 1940 in Ibadan to Alhaji Bello Ajani and Alhaja Ubaidat Bello of the Arolu Compound, Ita Olukoyi, Sheikh Bello was widely respected for his fearless preaching and his commitment to speaking truth to power.

Sheikh Bello began his educational journey at IDC Primary School, Elekuro, Ibadan, where he also attended secondary school. He later studied Arabic and Islamic studies at Mahdul Arabiy, Elekuro, between 1963 and 1967.

His passion for Islamic propagation began early, starting at the age of 10, as he preached across Ibadan’s neighborhoods. Sheikh Bello’s influence extended beyond Ibadan, as he taught in secondary schools across Oyo, Ogun, and Kano States and served as Missioner of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, a prominent Islamic organization.

The scholar spent a significant portion of his life in Kano, where he gained recognition for his advocacy for social justice and his strong stance against corruption. Later, he returned to Ibadan to continue his mission of spreading Islamic teachings.

Throughout his life, Sheikh Bello was invited to preach both nationally and internationally, delivering sermons in the UK, US, and several African countries. His legacy as a spiritual leader and a champion of truth will continue to inspire his followers and admirers worldwide.

Governor Abdulrazaq of Kwara State described Sheikh Bello’s death as a national loss, praising his commitment to Islamic monotheism, piety, civic virtue, and responsible leadership and followership.

“Sheikh Bello is remembered as a cleric who dedicated his life to faith, justice, and the empowerment of others”, says the governor. His son, Alhaji Basit Olanrewaju Katibi Bello, popularly known as Aponle Anobi, confirmed his father’s passing in a social media post, Bosenlo TV News reports.
